The CORE2 Cryo-EM Facility, in the Cell and Genome Sciences Building (400 Farmington Avenue, Farmington, CT 06030), supports single-particle cryo-EM from experimental design and specimen preparation through cryo-screening, data collection, and help with image analysis. The facility works with researchers at UConn Health and with outside academic and industry groups to make high-resolution structural biology more practical and affordable. The facility combines automated, programmable grid preparation (VitriFlex) with a dedicated 100 kV cryo-transmission electron microscope (Thermo Scientific Tundra Cryo-TEM) for fast sample screening and single-particle structure determination. Grid surfaces are prepared with a PELCO easiGlow glow-discharge system. These tools handle both routine single-particle work and time-resolved or mixing experiments. Services are offered full-service (facility-operated) or, after training, on a user-operated basis.
